Selected for XROS Fellowship Program 2023,  an initiative of FICCI, supported by Meta and implemented by Reskilll.

I was selected among 10,000 applications and 2,500 project proposals for the program, and after rigorous rounds of interviews, the selection committee handpicked the top 100 candidates. 

I have worked on creating an VR Solution project titled “Robot Assisted Epilepsy Virtual Reality Surgery” at Ontario Tech University, Oshawa, Canada, as part of the prestigious Mitacs Globalink Research Internship under the supervision of Dr. Alvaro Quevedo. I have developed the application from the ground up to a point where it can be used by real surgeons to get hands-on training.

During this internship, I collaborated with Dr. Glauco Caurin of the University of Sao Paulo and his students through weekly meetings to gain a better understanding of the project. They were already working to make the 3D representation in a non-immersive environment, but not in Unity3D; rather, it was Gazebo.

My goal for this project was to develop the digital twin by employing 3D authoring tools and the Unity Game Engine for Virtual Reality. The digital twin was composed of a virtual environment that is representative of the operating room, including a virtual robot digital twin, virtual patient, virtual surgeon, and instruments required for the procedure. I also had to texture and animate all digital twin components to properly represent the procedure, as well as create graphical user interfaces that were suitable for both immersive and non-immersive virtual reality.

This project was selected for SimExpo Toronto 22 and was a finalist for the Metaverse Healthcare Hackathon by NVIDIA, Texas Children's Hospital, and Mark II the paper is in the process of being published.

Here are my work highlights from the internship at Ontario Tech University.

• Built VR Application in Unity Engine for Neuro Surgeon to get hands on Training to perform Epilepsy Surgery using OpenXR SDK in Oculus Quest.

• Project got selected for the 2022 Sim Expo Demonstration Showcase in Toronto.

• Worked under supervision of professionals from Ontario Tech University & University of Sao Paulo.

•  Created High Quality 3D Models in Blender of Equipment & Devices that are used in the Surgery room.

•  Literature Reviewed 15+ Research Paper using PRISMA Method..
